The Dingo project area is located in the south-east section ot the Bowen Basin, approximately 20km southwest of the town of Duaringa in Central Queensland. The Blackwater Rail Line runs parallel to the north of the project area, and services the Port of Gladstone. The area is overlain by the Triassic Rewan Formation which covers the Baralaba Coal Measures (equivalent to the Rangal Coal Measures and Bandanna Formation).
Cockatoo Coal have been actively exploring the nearby area immediately east, and have published drilling results and seismic survey data which suggests the same coal measures may occur within Blackwood Corporation's project area. There are northwest trending anticlines and thrust faults throughout the project area which could act to bring the underlying Baralaba coal measures closer to the surface.
